Das Cask

What a week!
This week has been a blast so far and isn't done yet.
Tonight we're supposed to be appearing on Das Supertalent in Germany. And by tonight I mean this afternoon. Right now actually, and I'm just toggling back and forth between writing this and hitting refresh on their Facebook page to see how we did.
Will we be embraced by the German people? Will this end our toiling in relative Canadian obscurity and usher in an age of das fame overseas? If our career has taught me anything then I would assume no, but I'm excited to welcome the 5 new FB fans who will actually seek our page out after watching the episode ;)
It was a blast to do so hopefully we'll get some good video from it.
This week was Frosh week and while fun, the shows were hot. Two days in a row we did nooners at Mohawk College in Hamilton out in the courtyard for their first year orientation events. The shows were fun, and even better than the show we were ensconced in a ring of food trucks.
But it was hot.
Real hot.
Tuesday's show was 37o and Wednesday's was 43o.
And although the food trucks made incredible food it seems that the major side effect, besides deliciousness, to cooking is the generation of heat.
Who'd have thought.
The shows were actually so hot that 15 minutes in my phone literally shut down due to the heat. That meant that our 45 minute show actually went over an hour as king yaks-a-lot here babbled on through the heat and sweat.
And BOY do I mean sweat! We were sweating so bad we both actually sweat through our kilts. When you're asked how hot the show was and you have to put the level at dickey, because you actually sweat through your dickey, then you know it's hot.
Still no word on Germany.
It was so hot that ten minutes into the show Clown's makeup melted and completely filled his eyes. So while I blockheaded away Pepper and Clown desperately tried to rinse the grease paint out of his sight holes.
It was so hot that even the sanitary wipes were actually warm.
Anyways, as you can gather, it was hot.
So off we were tonight to the Wellington Cask Festival.
We literally showed up and found out our Das Supertalent bit had just aired.

Now I don't speak German but I'm pretty sure that gross, untalented and no place on the show are universal. But you know what? A whole bunch of Facebook likes and messages from brand new fans over there!
So fun! We expected that. People who like us.. .well... like us. And people who don't can go suck a lemon.
It was interesting to be up on stage at the Wellington Cask Fest and do a show for 60 people who were so excited it was ridiculous... and at the same time we were being both reviled and adored by an entire country.
Interestingly enough... we appear to be the only act that didn't get rebroadcast online.
Like everyone else has an online clip except us. That's gotta be a mistake right?
Tonight we cut a man's beard off on stage and then burned it.

To raise money for cancer.
Not... like... to PROMOTE cancer.
At least I hope not.
I think it was to help people with cancer.
Oh god I hope it was for the latter.
